You are completely in the right, Liv. I just wanted to say that I support you fully. I am in California. I believe that immodesty disserves women in so many ways, but they are oblivious to it. I will be 74 next month, so I suppose it is easy for me to say, but I have always been more comfortable with modest dress. When I was very young, I did on some occasions dress immodestly and I have forever felt bad about it. I don't believe it is what God wants for us. Anyway, you have a supporter here. I appreciate your intelligent and thoughtful articles and hope your account will pick up. Doing what is right and being true to what you believe is more important than followers, anyway, but I imagine we are not alone in these beliefs. Like-minded people will find you.
I won't wear the seat belt while I drive rather you better drive safely. I won't care for the drive lanes left or right just you be careful and don't dash into mine.
Here where I live there are more two wheelers, bikes and as such. One must wear a helmet while riding as a protection against, God forbid, any mishap.
I contest rather you drive safely and I won't wear any protection or safety. You better beware don't run into me.
I learned this when sometime back this girl went through a hard time. When some people, old enough to have seen the dusk before the modern lights lit the dark of impending night, advocated for the girl saying you could have secured your own safety like the girls of yesterday used to. The generation today voiced don't teach us how to dress rather tame your boys, (girls are not to be looked at).
Ladies are free to be as they are to be. Men have to be the other way.
Alas! Nature is nature, boys are boys, instincts are hardwired, be you a believer or not, Cosmos is at work.
Culture of a place makes dressing modest or not modest. I am an old woman & am sick & tired of having to dress so men will not be tempted. In the South Pacific some places you are immodest if you show your legs, but going topless if fine. How about Islam - that religion wants women to be covered head to toe. One way or another women will be blamed. Way of the world until we become more enlightened. God help us.
As a Christian I follow God's standard. I do not dress like a nun, but it is something that is called to walk in the middle of the road, and that is not a big burden. The bible says: For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matt 11:30)
