“that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well.” (Acts 15:29 NKJV) Love this verse! Oh Liv thank you so much for posting this. I hope it gets out and opens many hearts!
My mother too was a psychopath and it still affects me to this day. She was at my wedding and took the speaker 🔊 and announced to the crowd that she had caught is snogging (amourously kissing!) when we were early in our courtship. It was degrading and I imagine the intent was to humiliate us on our wedding day. The crowd tried to laugh it off but was it ever awkward. My bridesmaids even warned me not to give her any place of prominence on the day. As time wore on, her conduct and demeanor really helped put me off so much from my faith; as her (what I now know to be) her false self was very devout in her church and amongst her peers, &, relatives. Then when I realised she was anything but a devout person of faith I was astonished and you know something? I turned on my heels so to speak- and actually began to re-visit my own faith no longer desiring it to be painted in the wrong light by that high ranking deceptive reprobate (!)
Even thinking about renewing vows...I pray more, I dress modestly, Ive changed so much from those old influences. And having boomeranged around that way -never thought it would be possible (perhaps some loved ones have been praying on my behalf?!) anyway I just want you to know how appreciated this post is❣️
Nice to hear from you again Kait. Sorry to hear how your mother treated you. But one thing is sure. Jesus is not like that! Go close to Him and He wil go close to you.
To keep ourselves pure is out of love to God and I also do it out of respect for myself and others.
Thank you for the article. While I agree with much of what you say, I am not so comfortable with the idea that what I wear may make a man sin. Should I dress like a nun or a Muslim woman with my flowing gown and head-dress? I do not think so. Of course, I also do not want to go our dressed half naked to dinner hoping to attract men! Agree no sex before marriage, but are you suggesting that I cannot go swimming with men around because he might see my body? God never changes, his laws never change, but if I am not t
‘Trying’ to attract men, much of the fashions today might be s pair of lululemon tights and a running bra and short shirt to go jogging. Did I do something sinful? That is where we do not agree. But generally—I do agree with your premise of sexual immorality is something we have become WAY to far from in this dark day and age.
I think that most women kind of know when they have passed that line where they know that men will look at them. And these days beaches, is that a place I want to go to? Don’t think so.
I agree with that—women know if they dressed provocatively or not. But dressing so does not necessarily stop lusting. [[[So I guess my point was—at what point is the lust HIS sin, and at what point is it HER sin? You are not God, I do not expect you to answer that. Suffice to say that I believe the intent is part of the sin for HER. I live on the beach in Mexico. OF course, I am 65 yrs old, and I love to walk the beach in my bathing suit and a light, thin coverup. But my real point was that women are not necessarily guilty of making a man sin unless they dress in such a way that is sure to create the lustful response. thanks for your article!
Oh dear what a lot of utter garbage! You may have set womens rights back 100 years. A woman should absolutely be free to dress as she pleases not 'modestly' to prevent men from 'lust'. Men lust after women whether they wear the medieval robes so prevelant in London, or bin bags. Why should women suffer for mens inability to self control? Your dreadful shocking post is surely taken from some sixteenth century etiquette tome. Ewww.
I have a feeling that women in general were a lot happier back then, than todays «liberated» women that try to find happiness in fending for themselves.
